Wider roads to adorn NST

SHILLONG: The State government is keen to develop broader roads in the New Shillong Township area.
Officials from the PWD informed that the government is planning to construct 32 metres broad roads from Nongmynsong till New Shillong Township.
There are indications that land acquisition process will not be carried out for the proposed road which will be constructed under the ‘Right of Way’ segment.
The proposed road will have wide    dividers with enough space for pedestrians.
According to officials, the department is awaiting necessary sanction to execute the work since tenders for the project were floated earlier.
It may be mentioned that the government has already approved the alignment of the road from Nongmynsong to New Shillong Township.
