World Homeopathy Day observed in city

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homeopathy (NEIAH), an autonomous Institute under Ministry of AYUSH located at Mawdiangdiang, observed the World Homeopathy Day on the occasion of the 261st birth Anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, founder of Homeopathic system of health care.
PS Dkhar, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dkhar observed that homeopathy system is affordable for the people living even in the remotest areas and urged professionals to be available to serve the masses through this branch of medicine thus making it more popular.
Meanwhile, Dr. P K Goswami, Director of NEIAH highlighted the future of homoeopathy and other systems of health care under AYUSH and objectives of providing quality medical education, research facility of health care to the needy persons of Northeast.
He stressed the need for holistic approach and openness towards all systems with a view to harness strengths of each system for the benefit of patients.
He assured that the Institute will make all-out effort to serve the people of Meghalaya and other parts of the region.
A series of lectures followed by Dr Baikuntha Barma, HOD of Organon of Medicine, SJN Homeopathic College & Hospital, Guwahati and Dr Hawada Lato, MO, Civil Hospital.
