Influx issue comes up for discussion at HNYF fucntion

SHILLONG: The issue of influx of illegal immigrants came up for discussion on the concluding day of the event held to mark 20 years if existence of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) here on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, FKJGP president, Joe Marwein said that the issue of influx was pending for the last 40 years and 13 pressure groups have urged the State Government to bring about a comprehensive mechanism to curb illegal immigration.
“The mechanism pertaining to entry/exit points and the recent passage of Meghalaya (Benami Transactions Prohibition) Amendment Bill 2016 will go a long way in checking influx in the state,” Marwein said.
Meanwhile, HNYF president, G.H. Kharshanlor said that there were many pending issues that the organization was working upon currently. “The service to the people will continue,” he said .
