WKH villages demand NOC for Nongstoin-Mawthabah road

SHILLONG: The Lai-Lyngdoh People’s Development Movement (L-LPDM) which represents 38 villages of West Khasi Hills met the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM PN Syiem on Thursday demanding NOC to be issued for the road project of Nongstoin-Mawthabah road.
While addressing reporters, Sparstalin Nongrem, secretary of Nonglwai Village under Nongstoin Syiemship said, “We met the CEM and submitted a memorandum to him to speed up the issuance of NOC to enable the road project to commence for the villages to be benefited from the project.”
“The road project has been pending for long and the road is in a dilapidated condition, issuance of NOC is high time,” he added.
“If the road is for facilitating uranium mining then we will convene a meeting with the villagers and look for the next step,” he clarified.
