Electoral roll purification launched

SHILLONG: With the prime objective of an error free electoral roll, the Election Commission of India has launched a comprehensive programme, the National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP).
During the programme, electors are requested to come forward to disclose their multiple entries, i.e. if they are registered in more than one place, by filing Form 7 for deletion of their names from the places except where they ordinarily reside.
Electors were also appealed to voluntarily furnish requisite information like contact number of self of family members, email ID, if available and to authenticate the Booth Level Officer Registers and thereafter sign Form 6, 7, 8 and 8A as the case may be, after verifying the details in the Electoral Rolls published on 11.1.2016, to the concerned Booth Level Officers.
The General Control Room cum Complaint Monitoring Cell has also been put in place at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Shillong to ensure effective response to complaints and queries received from various stake-holders about the National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP) and on various other electoral issues.Any related queries can be made to the assigned control room at 0364-2502079 or 1950.
