Union minister’s visit
SHILLONG: Jitendra Singh, Minister (Independence Charge), DoNER and Chairman, NEC, will inaugurate a week long awareness campaign on cancer entitled NEC- Pink Chain Cancer Conclave 2016 at NEC Auditorium here on April 23.
Besides a number of thematic sessions at NEC auditorium and deliberations in local educational institutions, the conclave will also showcase a play on cancer ‘Can Survive’ by alumni from the National School of Drama.
Booklet on Ambedkar
SHILLONG: The Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee recently released a booklet on the life and works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the year-long celebrations of his 125th birth anniversary.
The booklet was release by MPCC chief D.D. Lapang, in the presence of MPCC vice president Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, and all the PCC office bearers.
IAY irregularities alleged
SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner P.S. Dkhar will seek a report from the Mawryngkneng BDO on the alleged irregularities in the beneficiary list for IAY.
The statement came from the DC after the FKJGP Mawryngkneng unit met him on Wednesday and alleged that the BDO of Mawryngkneng had not fixed beneficiaries as per the list.
“I will write to the BDO and seek a report on the matter,” he asserted.
GHADC staff case
SHILLONG: The case pertaining to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Non-Gazetted Employees’ Association will come up for hearing on April 29.
The State government is yet to file its affidavit and the senior government advocate had sought time to file the counter affidavit.
It may be reminded that the GHADC employees have been struggling for salaries since July 2015.
