PM may attend NEC plenary meet in Shillong

SHILLONG: Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Shillong to take part in the plenary meeting of NEC sometime middle of this year.
NEC has proposed Shillong as the venue for holding the plenary session to be attended by the Chief Ministers and Governors of all the Northeastern states.
The plenary session is usually held twice in a year and the last meeting was held in Delhi
NEC Secretary R. Muivah said that though Shillong was proposed as the venue, it was left to the Prime Minister to finally confirm the venue and the date. If Modi agrees to attend the NEC meeting in Shillong, this will be his first visit to the state after assuming prime minister’s office.
Sources said that of if the Prime Minister chairs the session, this will provide an opportunity to the chief ministers of the Northeastern states to take up several pending issues with him.
