SHILLONG: A total of 536 students were conferred their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and certificates on the occasion of the first convocation of University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) held on the university campus on Friday. Former Chief Election Commissioner J.M. Lyngdoh was awarded an honorary degree on the occasion. Governor V. Shanmuganthan graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh was the guest of honour. The convocation was attended by vice-chancellors from various universities including Delhi University, Gauhati University, Tezpur University, NEHU, Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica, Christopher S. Morales, besides others.
