Girl stabs molester, held

SHILLONG: An 18 year old girl turner herself over to the police at Nongstoin after stabbing one Mohan Gurung who had attempted to rape her.On reaching Nongstoin police station on Saturday, the girl stated that Mohan Gurung, resident of Mawnianglah, Mylliem, had tried to rape her on Friday night.In self defense and out of fear that he may succeed in raping her, she grabbed whatever tool she could lay her hands on and stabbed him.Incidentally, the girl was arrested after she reached the police station. This action by the police delayed filing of the FIR of attempted rape. Sources said that young girl was unaware of the steps to be taken in filing the complaint.
