TURA: The ruling NPP-led executive committee of the GHADC has accused their political opponents of spreading false reports about children of council employees being removed from schools over non-payment of fees.
Deputy CEM Augustine Marak while clarifying to certain news reports about the issue, said that reports about several dozen school children being removed from a school in Tura due to non-payment of dues was factually incorrect.
“I along with other members personally visited the school and got a firsthand report from the principal himself that nothing of that kind has taken place. He also said that the school is aware about the current situation the council is facing and at no time was there any attempt to drop the children. This is the handiwork of our political opponents who want to project the district council in bad light,” claimed Augustine Marak.
It is worth mentioning that the monthly dues of the council employees are a staggering eight long months with no end in sight to the problem.
The CEM Denang T Sangma has meanwhile informed that revenue generated from their own resources has helped to accumulate substantial funds which would go into paying salary dues of one month sometime next week.
