Governor honours Assam Rifles men

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan on Friday presented seven Governor’s Gold Medals and eight Silver Medals to Assam Rifles Personnel in recognition to their meritorious service and acts of bravery in counter terrorism operations at the Assam Rifles Investiture Ceremony here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor lauded the service rendered by the Assam Rifles to the Northeastern region and congratulated the awardees for their gallantry and dedication to the service of the Nation.
The awardees are a testament to the heritage of this professional and gallant force, he added.
It may be mentioned that the Governor’s Gold & Silver Medal was instituted in 1957 and are awarded as recognition for acts of gallantry and meritorious service by the soldiers of Assam Rifles in the Northeastern states and is highly respected in the Force.
The ceremony concluded with the award winners and attendees being invited for tea at the Raj Bhawan.
