TURA: Congress candidate Dikkanchi D Shira and NPP candidate Conrad K Sangma have both cleared the scrutiny of their nomination papers by the returning officer setting the stage for an all out campaign by the two contenders for the Tura Lok Sabha seat.
The nomination papers of both Conrad and Dikkanchi were taken up for scrutiny on Saturday with both getting the clearance from the returning officer. With the scrutiny taking place in Tura NPP candidate Conrad K Sangma kept himself confined to Tura for the day meeting supporters and well-wishers while the rest of the party machinery was out on the field mobilising support for him in different parts of Garo Hills.
Congress candidate Dikkanchi D Shira also spent most part of her day meeting with supporters and party workers who called on her to express their support to her.
Beginning Monday, both Congress and NPP are planning to hold large rallies in the far flung areas of the five Garo Hills districts given that there is barely two weeks of campaign left before voters head to the polls on May 16.
