BCCI trials commence in city

SHILLONG: The trials at Shillong for the Under-19 category commenced on Saturday for the 5 NADP states out of 60 short listed participants attending the camp. The selection committee was headed by former Indian pacer, Venkatesh Prasad, Chairman, Junior Selection Committee, of BCCI besides two other members of the same committee, Gyanendra Pandey and Aman Kumar. They were felicitated and welcomed by the players from the NADP states, MCA officials and young aspiring cricketers of Shillong Cricket Academy. Venkatesh Prasad in his maiden visit to the state expressed happiness at the management and interest for the game in the city. He assured that the players with the best potential and ability will be selected to undergo the forthcoming National Cricket Academy to be conducted in the city from May 10 to 31. This development, first in a series of other tangible actions for development of both cricketers and cricketing infrastructure in the state and Northeast, follows after intervention of Honorary Secretary Meghalaya Cricket Association Naba Bhattacharjee. He was also felicitated on being appointed as Coordinator of BCCI NADP Committee, by the Shillong Cricket Association on Friday. Further, Honorary Jt. Secretary BCCI, Amitabh Choudhary will also be in Shillong on May 8 and 9 , to oversee the camp and other development related issues to be taken up in Meghalaya and other NADP States.
