Churches, NGOs meet for peace in Tura

TURA: A meeting under the aegis of Joint Peace Mission Team representing all Churches of North East India was held on May 9 and 10 at the Garo Baptist Convention Headquarters in Tura to discuss the present situation in Garo Hills and to encourage civil societies as well as the government to take initiatives to address the issue.
During the meeting members of the Churches present appealed to all to come together to work in a united way for the betterment of individual communities and the common growth of the people of the region.
An appeal was also made to people of all ideologies, parties, convictions and religious traditions to help in the great cause of peace, development and well being of all communities.
The peace meeting was attended by heads or representatives of CBCNEI, Catholic Church, CNI, NEICC, NECORD, Social Forum, Garo Baptist Convention, Diocese of Tura, members of JPMT, Mothers’ Union, Women’s Social Welfare Organization, Tura Senior Citizens’ Forum, GSU, GHSMC, AYC and ADE, among others.
