Fishy business: Cop lands in BSF net

SHILLONG: A simple desire for fresh fish from Bangladesh has landed a policeman in the custody of BSF personnel engaged in patrolling duty in South West Khasi Hills.
BSF troops deployed at Dulainala in South West Khasi Hills noticed suspected movement near the Indo- Bangladesh border fence on Wednesday.
They found that two civilians were throwing some packet over the fence. The BSF personnel immediately apprehended them from the spot.
They were identified as Topesh Momin, resident of   Dulai Malai, under Dangar PS in East Khasi Hills and Martin A. Sangma who was later identified as a constable posted at Nongthymmai Beat House and a resident of Dulai Malai.
A BSF statement said after questioning, it was revealed by the apprehended persons that they intended to purchase fish from two Bangladeshi nationals – Sukrip Sangma of Kathalbari village and Md. Ali of Islampur under Sunamganj district, who fled from the scene.
The apprehended persons had thrown money in a packet over the fence in anticipation of the fish.
The BSF troops recovered a motorbike (ML 10-B-1050) and one mobile phone with two Indian SIM cards from their possession.
