Vehicle on poll duty meets with accident, 2 hurt

SHILLONG: A vehicle returning from election duty met with an accident on Tuesday leading to the injury of   two persons.
The incident happened when a truck coming from Guwahati dashed the Bolero Camper (AS 18 C 6309)   which was returning from election duty at Rangjuli in Resubelpara.
According to CEO FR Kharkongor, the incident happened  after election materials were deposited.
Notice to poll official:  The election department has issued a notice to a poll official — Rikseng K Sangma deputed at  Nangaburi Polling Station in Resubelpara — for coming to poll duty in an inebriated  condition.  He was doing his duty as polling officer in T Shirt and short pant.
He was later replaced by another presiding officer. The election observers also found empty liquor bottles in the polling station. The accused polling officer is an assistant teacher of Bajengdoba Higher Secondary School.
