Tura defeat : Dissidence set to resurface in MPCC

SHILLONG: Following the debacle of the party in the by-poll to Tura Lok Sabha seat, the MPCC president DD Lapang will meet the AICC chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma is already camping in Delhi, but he is yet to meet any Congress leaders.
The party sources said that Lapang is also expected to present his report to the High Command citing the reasons which led to the humiliating defeat of the party candidate.
Meanwhile sources said that a section of Congress legislators have written to Lapang to call a CLP meeting to discuss their grievances following the setback of the party in the Tura by-poll.
Sources added that with Assam going the BJP way coupled with Congress losing the prestigious Tura seat, the disgruntled legislators are bound to rake up the once buried change of leadership issue in the CLP.
Dikkanchi enlightened
While the Chief Minister blamed tampering of EVMs for the ) defeat of the Congress in Tura, Sangma’s wife and the party candidate Dikkanchi Shira, however accepted the defeat positively stating that it enlightened her.
“Thank you, my beloved Garo Hills .Election is one of such moments in life that challenges and leaves you enlightened at the end of it”, Dikkanchi said in a statement on Monday.
She also said that with utmost humility she accepted the people’s verdict and promised to remain loyal to her commitments to continue to serve the people of Garo Hills. According to Dikkanchi, she went through a tough challenge and the people’s verdict left her without an option to serve all of you as a member of parliament, “but I have only emerged more- stronger both as a person and as a public representative who would now continue to serve the people of Mahendraganj and Garo Hills with even greater passion and self belief”.
She said that every loss is a lesson to learn and this loss has enlightened her tremendously.
“In times to come I will try and attend to each of your apprehensions that could have possibly come in your way to decide against my candidature during this election”, she added.
