Civic reception for PM at Polo Grounds

SHILLONG: On his maiden visit to Meghalaya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a speech during a civic reception to be organised by the State government at the 3rd Ground, Polo, on May 27 at 3 PM. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister will address the plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) at Pinewood Hotel at 11 AM.
The general public has been invited to hear the Prime Minister deliver his speech in Shillong which, sources say, will be over at 4:30 PM.
From Polo, the prime Minister will proceed to Raj Bhavan where a public audience has been planned at 7:30 PM followed by cultural programme.
According to sources, the Prime Minister has confirmed his visit to the hill station and is set to deliver his speech whether rain or shine, as he is determine to complete the scheduled programme here.
It is unclear as to whether the Prime Minister will arrive in Shillong on a helicopter if the weather permits or whether he will take the Guwahati -Shillong road in a car.
Sources also indicated that Prime Minister may visit either Mawlynnong or Sohra before his departure, though the same could not be confirmed.

11 AM: Address at NEC plenary session at State Convention Centre
1:30 PM: Lunch followed by an hour’s rest at Raj Bhavan
3 PM to 4:30 PM: Civic reception at Polo Grounds
4.30 PM to 7:15 PM: Public audience at Raj Bhavan followed by cultural programmes
May 28: Departure
