Arrested HNLC cadres admit to hand in Jhalupara blast

SHILLONG:  The four HNLC militants who were arrested along with a ULFA cadre from Mawsynram last week, have confessed to their involvement in the IED blast at Jhalupara area of the capital city on November 12 last year.
Informing this here on Monday, the East Khasi Hills district police chief  M Kharkrang said that the HNLC had committed the crime with the active support from the ULFA cadre who was arrested  last week by SOT  personnel while they were on the way to East Khasi Hills district with huge cache of  arms and ammunition.
“The arrested cadres will have to be interrogated further to know how they had triggered the IED blast and their intention,” he said.
All the arrested persons were remanded to 14 days of police custody on Monday.
It may be mentioned that the blast occurred near the Jeevan Ram Goenka Memorial Hospital on November 12 last year creating a crater at the site. The blast had partially damaged two vehicles and a road roller parked near the site. The arrested militants are Nobleson Rynjah, Phrankor Rynjah, Kyrseiboklang Lyngdoh (all HNLC) and Bikhat Ahom  from Bongaigaon, Assam (ULFA).
