Weather warning
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning that thunderstorm accompanied with squall and heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya from May 24 to 26.
Workshop
The National Institute of Securities Markets, Mumbai and the Meghalaya Board of School Education will jointly conduct a sensitization programme cum workshop on the topic ‘Financial Education’ for various stakeholders and teachers at Shillong on May 26-27. D.P. Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary, Education department will grace the inaugural function as chief guest at the MBOSE office, Shillong on May 26 at 9:45 AM.
NFSA rice
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills, has informed that rice for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority House Holds (PHH) under NFSA 2013 for April and May, 2016 for urban and rural areas has been released and will be distributed through the respective fair price shops. The scale of distribution for AAY is 35 kgs per card per month at Rs.3 per kg, 4.977 kgs per head per month at Rs.3 per kg for PHH and 0.023 kgs per head per month at Rs.9.25 to Rs.9.30 per kg for tide over allotment to PHH.
Yoga training
Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Cherrapunjee, organized a two day Yoga training programme to the trainers from ten organisations based in ten districts of Meghalaya on the Ashram premises on May 21-22. The trainers will now organise trainings in their respective districts and prepare trainees for participation and demonstration of Yoga Asana protocol as decided by the Ministry of AYUSH on June 21 from 7 AM to 8 AM as part of the International Yoga Day.
Condolence
The Central Puja Committee, West Garo Hills, has condoled the demise of former minister and social activist Nitya Narayan Simchang, who passed away at Dalu on Sunday. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed leader on Monday.
