MGNREGA wage rate revised
The Secretary, Community and Rural Development and Mission Director, State Rural Employment Society, Meghalaya, has informed that the Ministry of Rural Development has increased the wage rate of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act job card holders in Meghalaya from Rs.163 to Rs.169. The revised wages will be effective from April 1, 2016.
Programme
International Day for Biological Diversity was observed at Bainapara M.E. School, Betasing, South West Garo Hills, on Tuesday with the theme ‘Mainstreaming Bio-diversity, Sustaining People and their Livelihood’. R.K. Marak, DFO, Social Forestry graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Condolence
The Meghalaya Koch Association on behalf of the Koch community has condoled the untimely demise of former Meghalaya minister Nitya Narayan Simchang who was the sitting president of the association. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
Meeting
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association (MUPSTA) Ri-Bhoi District Unit will convene the Executive Committee on May 28 at Nepali U.P School, Nongpoh at 10:30 AM.
The general meeting of Seng Kur Suting will be held on May 28 at 11 AM at the State Central Library, Shillong.
Office bearers
The Nongthymmai Block Youth Congress has elected new office bearers with Edmund Kharkongor as president, Rudy Lyngdoh as general secretary and Vianca Wanpli Dkhar as treasurer, besides eight vice presidents and other members.
Missing case
Narayan Ghosh, son of Bijendra Ghosh, resident of Kench’s Trace has been reported missing since May 5. He has an oval shaped face, height 5 ft 3 inches, complexion is swarthy and is mentally unsound. He was last seen wearing black track suit, sweater and blue slippers.
UTP flees
Jecika Kharkongor, daughter of (L) Veronica Kharkongor fled from Shillong Civil Hospital on May 19. Any person having knowledge of her whereabouts can contact 0364-2223069 and 0364- 2222277.
Bus service
The long pending demand of the people of Hailakandi, Assam has been fulfilled with the MTC starting a daily direct night bus service from Shillong to Hailakandi from May 23. While the departure time from Shillong is at 7 PM, the bus will depart from Hailakandi at 5 PM.
