Ruth Kharkongor becomes first Khasi licensed pilot

SHILLONG:  City lady Ruth Zepheniele West Kharkongor has become the first Khasi woman pilot by possessing a license from an Academy in USA.
The relatives informed that Ruth, daughter of Dr. Natalie West Kharkongor and grand – daughter of late George West received private pilot license on May 14 from Sunrise Flying Academy, Florida, USA.
Born on March 29 1995 in Shillong, Ruth Kharkongor did her schooling at Pine Mount School and higher secondary from St. Joseph School, Chennai.
Ruth has dreamt of becoming a pilot since childhood and her achievement is that she became the first Khasi pilot from Meghalaya.
Ruth Kharkongor is currently pursuing her Instrument Rating and CPL at the same Academy as her aim is to be a commercial pilot.
