‘Dedicate long hours to studies’

SHILLONG/ NONGSTOIN: It was a moment of pride and jubilation for the toppers from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School as the school bagged seven positions in the Top 20 merit list of the SSLC examination.
Speaking to reporters, the enthusiastic toppers pointed out that hard work is the key to achieve success. Third position holder from the school, Mili Goswami said, “We cannot expect that in just two months’ time we can achieve success so we have to work hard and prepare throughout the year.”
“99 per cent is hard work and 1 per cent is luck as well as blessings of the teachers, parents and God,” she said.
She stated that she had put in 3-4 hours of study and added that her father has been an inspiration.
The young achiever aims to become a doctor.
Another topper, Mayuri Roy, said she did not expect to get the rankings and echoed the views of her fellow student that a candidate should dedicate 10 hours daily towards study.
She is now planning to study either Medicine or Genetics.
St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School performed exceedingly well with students of the school bagging the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 10th rankings in the HSSLC top ten rankings. The school also achieved a cent per cent pass record, informed Br. T. Samuel.
Speaking to reporters, 6th position holder Naphisabet Nongkynrih said, “I started my preparation from February this year and I give thanks to God, the teachers, Principal, my family and friends who have supported me all along.”
She said she was taken aback by the position for there were numerous brilliant students.
She added that she spent 4-5 hours for studies and meditated for 30 minutes to keep stress at bay.
Torch bearer of education in WKH
It was another thrilling success for Anderson Higher Secondary School, Nongstoin, with one of its students bagging the 4th positions in the Top 20 merit list in the SSLC examination.
Silencegist Sanglyne with 94 per cent marks and letter in Mathematics, Science & Technology, Social Studies, Health Education  and Khasi (MIL).
The school also performed very well in the HSSLC examination in all the three streams with students of the school recording a perfect percentage of 100.
Principal of the school, W. Sohkhlet, attributed the milestone to the dedication of the teachers and authority along with the hard work put in by the students, supported by their parents at home.
