Programme
A one day sensitization programme on ‘Basic Disaster Management Concepts’ for junior engineers, block functionaries, Gram Sevaks and Gram Sevikas was organized by Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute, Shillong, in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority, Nongstoin on May 26.
The office of the Block Development Officer, Mylliem C&RD Block, Upper Shillong is organising a programme at Umrynjah village on May 30 from 9:30 AM for distribution of the Nirmal Gram Puraskar and declaring of Open Defecation Free villages. Local legislator Embhahlang Syiemlieh will be the chief guest.
Summer camp
Army Public School, Umroi, organised a Summer Camp themed ‘Summer Paradise’ from May 17- 27. Nearly 250 participants participated in the camp. Various recreational activities, counselling classes, meditation sessions, drill, street play, public speaking, water games, taekwondo, painting, cooking without fire, dance, trash music etc., were organised during the camp.
Relief
Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Kolkata, through its Ramakrishna Mission Ashram at Cherrapunjee organised an adult garment distribution programme on May 26 for needy residents of Steplakrai, Myria and Lyngiong regions of East Khasi Hills. The programme was conducted in collaboration with ITC Limited (headquarter at Kolkata), as a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
