NHAI may construct footbridges along Umiam-Jorabat expressway

SHILLONG: The National Highway Authority of India is likely to construct as many as five footbridges along the 68-kilometer Umiam-Jorabat four lane expressway.
Sources informed that there is a proposal to construct two foot bridges each at Nongpoh and Byrnihat respectively while one footbridge is supposed to be constructed at Umling.
The concept of footbridges has been added to the project to ensure people’s safety while crossing the busy four lane road in important habitations like Nongpoh and Byrnihat.
Sources said that the plans and drawings for the footbridges have been submitted to the NHAI.
