SHILLONG: Twenty-year-old Lassius Dkhar came all the way from Kyndong Tuber, West Jaintia Hills, to join the thousands in the funeral procession of Father Sylvanus Sngi Lyngdoh here on Monday.
For Dkhar, Fr Sngi was much more than just a noted spiritual leader. In fact, it was for the miracle performed by Fr Sngi, that 20-year-old Dkhar is the young man that he is today.
Bedridden since the age of 15, Dkhar could not speak and would only communicate in writing.
The doctors could not find the reason for his chest pain and other complicacies.
It was only recently that Dkhar heard of Fr Sngi and “his gift of healing the sick” and decided to meet him on April 22.
“He prayed and poured holy water on me after which I began to utter the word “mei” (mother) softly. Later he poured the holy water again following which I shouted out “mei” … everyone present was amazed at the miracle,” Dkhar, who was perhaps the last one to experience the miracle performed by Fr Sngi, said.
Dkhar expressed gratitude to God for the miracle and for using Fr Sngi as His instrument.
