SHILLONG: Unhappy with the action of the High Court of Meghalaya in disposing of the case related to the mysterious death of police officer P.J. Marbaniang, who was found with bullet injuries on his head on January 24 last year at his official quarter at Patharkhmah police outpost, the mother of the officer has filed a Special Leave Petition before the Supreme Court.
The petitioner, Dorothy Marbaniang, has sought the intervention of the Apex Court to stay the final order of the High Court and to order for a fair investigation as the report of the State’s own Special Investigation Team (SIT) which probed the case threw more questions than the answers.
Earlier, the SIT had maintained that the police officer committed suicide due to pressure, which however, was rejected by the family members including the mother.
