JOWAI: To allay the fears and apprehensions of the general public, the District Administration, West Jaintia Hills organised a one-day awareness programme on NPR enrolment for the headmen of Jowai Town, Thadlaskein and Amlarem Block among others at District Library Auditorium, Mynthong here on Saturday.
WJH Deputy Commissioner, Arunkumar Kembhavi along with other concerned officials from the district attended the programme which dealt with the benefits of NPR enrolment and Aadhaar.
Statistical Investigator, Director of Census Operations, Meghalaya, JR Swer gave a presentation on NPR ad Aadhaar’s features, need, process, linkage with various schemes etc.
During the presentation Swer informed that the initial enumeration exercise to update the NPR was carried out in 2010 by the Census Operations.
Meanwhile, Kembhavi said that the objective of the awareness programme was to make everyone understand the purpose and benefit of NPR and Aadhaar.
