Police to file charge sheet against rapist

SHILLONG: Mawkyrwat police will soon file a charge sheet against Tekstarly Lyngkhoi of Mawsaw Mihngi who allegedly raped and murdered an 18 year-old-girl in the village earlier on June 4.
The body of the girl was found hanging from a tree in a forest at Sngilawiar near Mawsaw Mihngi village in South West Khasi Hills.
Soon after, police arrested Tekstarly Lyngkhoi who also confessed to his crime. The accused is a juvenile.
The police meanwhile are awaiting the postmortem report of the girl.
The BJP youth wing Mawkyrwat Mandal  and the Shilliang-Um People’s Development Forum (SPDF)  have condemned the rape and murder of the 18 year-old-girl at Mawsaw on June 4  and has  demanded that the perpetuator of the crime should be booked and punished as per law.
Meanwhile, a black flag day scheduled on June 13 at Mawsaw, South West Khasi Hills, is organised by KSU Mawkyrwat Circle and Joint Action Committee of Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Mawthawpdah Area, Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Mawsynrang Area, Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Mawsaw Area bad Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Mawiong-Pawphlang Area to extend solidarity to the 18 year-old-rape and murder victim.
The public rally will start at 10 am and a public meeting will be held at 11 am at football ground, Mawsaw.
A student of class X at Seven Sister Secondary School Domrua at South West Khasi Hills district was found raped and murdered on June 4 at Sngilawiar near Mawsaw Mihngi village in South West Khasi Hills district.
The heinous crime has caused shivers down the people’s spine of the district prompting them to condemn the crime.
The NGOs have urged the police to speed up the investigation.
On the other hand, KSU Mawkyrwat Circle Girls’ Wing have conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family and the organization will organize a candle light vigil at Mawkyrwat market place on June 15.
