Police thwart robbery attempt, 8 held

SHILLONG: East Jaintia Hills Police thwarted an attempt of a possible robbery and arrested eight persons besides recovering arms and ammunition.
Acting on inputs regarding a possible robbery at Lad Rymbai in East Jaintia Hills on Saturday, police rushed to the place and intercepted one Maruti Alto car (ML11 0703) along with four occupants identified as Emlang Langstang, Return Lyngdoh, Earness Syngkon and Sikai Chuh.
Police recovered and seized knives from the vehicle.
In this connection, police also raided the scrap shop of one Md. Jayuk Uddin at Datsympein, Lad Rymbai, and recovered one SBBL gun with eight rounds of live cartridges and arrested four persons – Md. Ahmed Ali, Md. Zur Uddin, Md. Majrob Ali and Md. Saj Ahmed Ali.
