SHILLONG: A man was assaulted at Sohiong for allegedly practicing witchcraft to harm a 15-year-old girl in the village. But the victim, in this case the man accused of practicing witchcraft, was saved from further bruises thanks to the timely intervention of the East Khasi Hills district administration and the police.
The incident happened after a girl from Lait Lyngkhoi, who was supposedly in a disturbed mental state, claimed on Thursday night that she saw the man, Dipalen Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi, assaulting her and getting her bit by dogs.
The family alleged that it may be due to the black magic practiced by Lyngkhoi.
Later, the Sordar called a dorbar to settle the matter in the presence of SP (City), Vivek Syiem and Magistrate, R. Wahlang, who had rushed to the spot after hearing of the incident.
Wahlang then directed the dorbar to take the girl to a psychiatrist and also ordered an emquiry into the incident.
