SHILLONG: The rising problem of pickpockets at Iewduh has prompted the Myntri of Hima Mylliem, in charge of market, C Kharkongor to decide to raise the issue in the executive dorbar meeting of the Hima.
He added that the proposal to install CCTV cameras to deal with the crime needs to be discussed with the police department.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, SP (City) Vivek Syiem said that though arrests have been made in this regard, the lack of proper rehabilitation meant that the offenders often went back to the same business.
“Police personnel will be deployed to curb the menace of pickpockets while people should also remain alert,” he added.
