Haryana youth on a mission to ‘thank’ armed forces

SHILLONG:  A youth from Sonipat in Haryana, Nittin Khattar who is undertaking a unique voyage ‘Ride for Nation’ on his Royal Enfield Electra 350 arrived in the city a few days back and is completely bowled over by the beauty of the place.
In a press conference held on Monday, Nittin said that the main objective for his venture is to thank the Indian armed forces for their services to the nation. Nittin also informed that this is his second voyage and in the journey, he will be visiting the border areas to give ‘Thank You’ cards to soldiers in the armed and Paramilitary Forces stationed in the borders. The youth who has now left for Silchar, has distributed over 330 “Thank You” Cards among 55 Stations of different armed forces so far.
In addition, he is also promoting Road Safety & General Awareness by visiting the general public, corporate, schools and his target is to take at least 35-40 sessions across India other than regular discussions. He is also giving his presentation to people on road safety since many people till date are not aware about the road safety.
He said that he also wants to promote tourism and his plan is to cover 50-60 percent of Major Indian Tourist places across the Borders and Coastal Belt of India.
The IT professional who is currently on Leave without Pay for the ongoing journey informed that he started his journey on February1 this year from Noida and so far he has completed around 18700  kilometers on his two wheeler  and he plans to cover another 10000-12000  kilometers at the     end of his journey.
In his visit to Shillong, the young lad also met Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan and the Governor lauded him for the unique initiative.
Nittin had travelled across Gujarat-Rajasthan Borders, Western Coast and Eastern Coasts and he also visited Dawki border in Meghalaya and handed over the Thank You card in one of the Border Out posts.
Reacting to a query on how he find Meghalaya, he said that many people advised him not to visit North East during monsoon season but he is glad that he visited North East at this time as he saw the real beauty of the region.
When asked about the frequent challenge which he faced during his journey, he said that the biggest challenge for him is the hostile weather when he had to drive his motorcycle on hot and humid climate in other parts of the country.
He said that he is getting financial assistance from his close friends and he normally gets food and accommodation from the armed forces whom he meets on the way.
So far, he has spent around Rs 2.2 lakhs on his journey from his own earnings.
An avid traveler and Biker, Nittin Khattar  in his earlier Solo  Ride  travelled 6404  kilometers throughout the country promoting  “Clean  India”  and  “Traffic  Awareness”.
