SHILLONG: The June 17 notification transferring three deputy commissioners from Ri Bhoi, East Garo Hills and  North Garo Hills is seen by the critics of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma as targeting the Congress dissidents like DD Lapang, Deborah Marak and SC Marak respectively
As per the notification issued by the personnel department, while the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner was posted as Joint Secretary, Education department, and Director Educational Research and Training, CP Gotmare who is currently serving  in the education department will take over as the new Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner.
The notification says that while the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills Cyril V Diengdoh has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of  North Garo Hills, Hubert B Marak  currently the Director of Land Records and Survey will be the new Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills.
The pressure groups from East Garo Hills have already opposed the transfer of  Diengdoh.
When contacted on Tuesday,  the local MLA and Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak said that she was in the dark about the transfer of the official. “I was never consulted before transferring the official”, she said.
The current North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner SC Sadhu was posted to head South West Garo Hill sand  the DC of the district Ram Singh  has been transferred as Director of Fisheries.    When contacted to know whether the transfer has any political angle, an official source, however, claimed that these are routine transfers.
