SHILLONG: The nondescript MDC hostel near the KHADC office on Wednesday drew the attention of several MDCs who expressed dismay at the dismal condition of the hostel and lack of basic amenities to the MDCs staying there.
HSPDP MDC L.G. Nongsiej, while taking part in the general discussion on the budget, said, “We have been experiencing scarcity of water for the last four years. In the previous years, the water was unclean. No change is seen; although there were assurances but till date nothing has been done. There have been reported thefts also.”
HSPDP MDC M. Mawsor pointed to the reply by KHADC CEM Pynshngain N. Syiem where he had informed the House that there are three sweepers/cleaners employed in the hostel, and said that the cleaners should be directed to perform their duty well.
UDP MDC Roma Khymdeit, said, “There is no clear demarcation of work/function in the various heads, be it the legislative wing or the executive wing. There is shifting of responsibilities between the two.”
In reply, the KHADC chief said he has conducted an inspection and assured to do the needful.
