SHILLONG:  Lack of co-ordination among the central state police forces, individual intelligence gathering without sharing the required information were the major irritants during the two day- meeting of the DGPs and IGPs of the Northeastern states which culminated here on Friday without any major recommendations as it remained inconclusive .
Sources said that concerns were also raised by the heads of the Central police forces deployed in the Northeast that the state police forces fail to share the required information to them which otherwise would have effectively used in anti-insurgency operations.
Moreover, what annoyed the Intelligence Bureau is that the same reports are sent by all the intelligence agencies to Delhi  each one taking credit for its achievement.
Another concern was that crores of rupees were spent on the security forces deployed in Garo Hills, but it did not produce the desired results which had exposed that the funds under modernization of police forces did not achieve its target.
The meeting, failed to discuss and take note of the alleged extortion being carried out by the police personnel in the national highways and inter-state borders and the alleged nexus of some police personnel with militant outfits in the Northeast.
Sources said that the views of the police personnel were to go all out to eradicate militancy in the Northeast as they were opposed to talks with the militant outfits.
Though the meeting was aimed at thrashing out the problems being faced by the security forces operating in the Northeast, there was nothing much emerged from  the meeting and the critics pointed out that it was an occasion for sightseeing for the police personnel who came from different parts of  the Northeast and West Bengal .
Moreover, the concerns and the welfare of the personnel deployed in various difficult terrains and situations did not figure in the high level meeting of the police officials.
The overnight repair of road leading to the Police Headquarters had also come under criticism as a day after worn out patches of the road were visible despite spending lakhs of rupees.
