Illegal collection irks Jaintia Hills truckers

JOWAI: Truckers in Jaintia Hills have alleged that an orgaisation called the ‘Core Committee of War-Jaintia Limestone and Boulder Stone Exporter and Miner Association Foreign Trade of Commerce Meghalaya Owners and Drivers Trucks  Limestone War Jaintia Association’ has illegally collected Rs 100 each from the trucks transporting limestone to Bangladesh via Tamabil.
Sources informed that the truckers have lodged a complaint in this regard with the West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner and the district Superintendent of Police. “We urge the District Administration to take strong note of the matter,” said some truck drivers.
