SHILLONG: AICC general secretary in charge Meghalaya, C.P. Joshi, will arrive here on Monday evening to meet party legislators and workers against the backdrop of demand for change of leadership.
After his arrival here on Monday, Joshi will meet state party functionaries on Tuesday to understand the current political situation in the State in the wake of dissidents seeking a change of leadership.
There are no high expectations on the part of the dissidents as they consider Tuesday’s meeting to be a ritual affair like in the past when the then AICC leader in charge Meghalaya, V. Narayanasamy, had met the dissidents after Chief Minister Mukul Sangma went ahead with the passage of the dual post Bill in the Assembly last year without due consultations.
Besides, the State government had also failed to address the matters related to the empowerment of headmen then.
Party sources said Joshi will meet all the party legislators and leaders to gauge the political situation as he is to submit a report to both AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
