SHILLONG: The state BJP on Monday remembered its former leader and ex- Home Minister (L) T.H. Rangad on his 13th death anniversary at the party office here.
Rich tributes were paid to the departed leader for his enormous contributions to the state and party and a two- minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Party leaders including David Kharsati, Bashailang Khongwir, Sumita Banerjee, K.M. Basaiawmoit and Basu Chakraborty spoke about the contribution of late Rangad, who according to them was a true nationalist and crusader against corruption.
The members recalled how he introduced transparency in the MLA scheme by publishing regular booklets. The members also remembered how money meant for the people was spent on various developmental activities by the late leader.
The party members also recalled how Rangad demonstrated his patriotism by walking all the way from Laban to Polo Grounds carrying the National Flag to participate in the Independence Day and Republic Day functions, challenging the bandh called by the HNLC.
