SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) will raise the issue of inflow of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) and the issue of hideouts of North East insurgent groups in Bangladesh during the IG level meeting between BSF and BGB later this month. BSF sources informed that the meeting will be held from July 24-27 in Tripura.
It is learnt that the BSF would submit a list of all the North East insurgent groups whose members are hiding in Bangladesh. Apart from insurgency, the issue of illegal immigration and smuggling of cattle and contraband items would also be discussed in the meeting.
Tripura Frontier, Mizoram Frontier and Meghalaya Sector of the BSF would take part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the BSF has strengthened its security apparatus along the Indo- Bangla border in Meghalaya following the recent attack in Bangladesh in which militants killed 20 people.
A BSF official on Monday said security has been strengthened as a precautionary measure even though there is no fear of militants attempting to sneak into Meghalaya since the attack was carried out by local homegrown terrorists and not by any major outfit.
Reacting to a query, the BSF official said BSF and BGB have not discussed security along the border following the attack in Bangladesh.
