SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan on Monday visited the Shella outpost of the BSF to take stock of the security situation at the border and boost the morale of the troops.
He was accompanied by Inspector General, BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, PK Dubey. The Governor was in his regular visit to Ramakrishna Mission, Shella.
During the visit, Shanmuganathan was briefed about the security situation at border in the wake of the terror attack in Dhaka. The armoury and special surveillance equipment were also displayed by the BSF.
During the visit, the Governor interacted with jawans through a Sainik Sammelan. Taking the pulse of the ‘first line of defence’, he spoke to every single jawan and encouraged them with a motivational speech.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was gratifying to see that BSF personnel were drawn from all the States for the noble cause of national security.
“It’s a great sacrifice by BSF personnel (who leave their families behind),” he said while appreciating the duties performed by the BSF troops, who sacrifice their personal comforts and face hardships in remote corners of the country.
