Smuggler held, liquor seized

SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed at Durgapara in South West Garo Hills apprehended an Indian liquor smuggler with 60 bottles of beer.
Acting on a tip off, a special BSF patrolling party intercepted one Tata Magic Maxima (ML08 C 7486) driven by Mithun (23) s/o Mazrool Khandekar, resident of Village Nandichar, Mahendraganj, South West Garo Hills. Search of the vehicle yielded 5 cases of beer.
On questioning, the driver revealed that the consignment was loaded from a wine shop owned by one Gattu Paul from Mahendraganj and was supposed to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
Similar seizure of liquor was also made by BSF troops deployed at Nongjri where 174 bottles of liquor were seized at the international border.
