SHILLONG: The newly appointed first class judicial magistrate D Sohtun has taken over the case of Bangladeshi politician Salahuddin Ahmed, who is facing trial for his illegal entry into Meghalaya on May 21 last year.
Informing this here on Friday, public prosecutor IC Jha said that Sohtun, who has taken over the case following the transfer of the earlier judge, would go through all the files pertaining to the case before recording the statement of the accused as per the Section 313 of the CrPC.
The case will come up hearing on August 29.
It may be mentioned that 10 witnesses have been cross examined in connection with the case so far.
