Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh government is contemplating to provide internet connectivity and wireless telecom services across the state, an official release said on Friday.
“The state government has aimed at spreading the wireless telecom services, particularly in the remote areas,” Chief Minister Kalikho Pul said in a meeting with BSNL officials here on Thursday.
Pul also discussed with the officials about building the required infrastructure for the service.
The Chief Minister emphasized on new GSM mobile connectivity for remote border places such as Anelih, Mipi, Vijaynagar, Pumao, Payum, Tali, Pipsorang, Parsi Parlo, Lada, Thambang, Thingbu and Balemu areas. Where GSM services could not be provided due to connectivity barriers, efforts should be made for alternative services such as WLL and Digital Satellite Phone Terminal (DSPT), Pul said.
Besides, he said, wireless telecom connectivity in the border areas would also be helpful in reporting intrusions.
He also stressed on providing telecom services for all administrative posts, be it mobile connectivity or high speed Internet services, so that business can grow faster, students can learn more, and government officials can access state-of-the-art services for fast and effective administration.
The chief minister said directives will be issued to the authorities to provide telecom cable duct along the state and national highways to lay high speed optical fibre network.
To cut multiple expenditure in digging along roadside to lay the cables, Pul decided to ask for provision for inclusion of telecom cable duct in the ‘detailed project report’ (DPR) of all the proposed highways in the state. (PTI)
