SHILLONG: The Khasi National Jaintia Union (KJNU) on Thursday urged the JHADC to put on hold the Pnar Alphabet Committee (PAC), stating that proper consultation with different clans/communities of the Pnar tribe should be carried out before coming up with the alphabets.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, KJNU president, Niman Shadap said, “The Khasi language has not been incorporated in the Eighth Schedule and we urge the JHADC to discontinue the committee.” The PAC was set up to introduce Pnar alphabets. Meanwhile, the union requested the JHADC CEM and member secretary of PAC to convene a meeting on the matter at the earliest.
