Marathon, football final mark 181st death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem

Nongpoh: Remembering the 181 death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem, the Khasi Students Union, North Khasi Hills on Saturday organised a Marathon and closing ceremony of the 1st Tirot Sing Syiem Football Tournament in Ri Bhoi District.
More than 200 participants took part in the 20 km Marathon from NSCA Mini Stadium Pahamsyiem to Marngar Playground then back to Mini Stadium, Pahamsyiem.
Among the male participants, Michael Ramsiej from Mawkyrwat was the winner whereas Hunlang Kongor and Shanbok Kongor from Ri Bhoi bagged the second and third prize respectively. In the female category, Shidalin Lyngdoh from Ri Bhoi was the winner, Emilia Makri and Robika Makri also from Ri Bhoi was awarded the second and third prize respectively.
A special prize was also awarded to the youngest and oldest participants in both male and female category. Among the male participants, 52 years old Wansing Makri was adjudged as the oldest participants and Pleasime Rani was adjudged as the oldest female participants in the 20 KM Marathon.
Ibansiewdor Thongni was awarded with the youngest female participant and Gilbert Dorphang among male participants received the award.
KSU NKHD President, Ferdynald Kharkamni handed over the prize and mementoes to the winners.
Later, in the finals of the 1st Tirot Sing Syiem Football tournament which was organised by KSU Umtrew unit,  Kynjoin Umran emerged as the winner by defeating Lumroman 2-1.
Best Player of the Tournament was awarded to Silvester Khongkai of Kynjoin Umran and Best Goalkeeper to Evic Mawlong of Lumroman. Top Scorer of the tournament was Rahul Khongjoh from Kynjoin Umran. The closing ceremony of the football tournament was attended by Lambokstar Marngar, Finance Secretary KSU Central body as the chief guest in the presence of Ferdynald Kharkamni, E Kyrsian Headman of Umtrew Village and other leaders of the union and elders from the village.
Lambokstar Marngar and Ferdynald Kharkamni handed over the cash prize of ten thousand to the winner and Seven thousand to runners up respectively.
