Bid to float new rebel group foiled

SHILLONG: Police foiled an attempt by  a group of criminals to float a new militant outfit with the arrest of one Anthony Marak at Upper Shillong on Tuesday.
According to police,  acting on inputs regarding movement of militants, police conducted checking at Upper Shillong and arrested  Marak (30) of Rajai village under Ranikor, South West Khasi Hills.
During interrogation, Marak revealed that he along with one William Sangma, a hard core criminal and others were contemplating to float a new outfit to be christened as ‘A’chik Revolutionary Army’ with William Sangma as the commander-in-chief  and Marak as deputy commander-in-chief.
“Necessary follow up action has been initiated to foil such attempts in future” police said in a statement.
