Rights panel chief takes charge

SHILLONG: Former Chairperson of Assam Human Rights Commission Justice Aftab Hussain Saikia has assumed office of the Meghalaya  Human Rights Commission as its first Chairperson.
An official source said on Tuesday that following the order of the political department and after getting nod from the Meghalaya Governor, the first Chairman of  Meghalaya  Human Rights Commission assumed charge on  July 15.
Aftab Hussain Saikia is the former Chief  Justice of  High Courts of  Jammu and Kashmir and Sikkim.
