Drugs worth over Rs 1 cr seized from Silchar

SHILLONG: Acting on specific information, the Customs officers of Headquarters Preventive Unit and Headquarters Narcotics Cell, Shillong, on Monday made a huge seizure of 10,000 nos. of Amphetamine tablets (Narcotics) from Silchar, Assam.
Two persons including a lady were arrested in this connection. The value of the seized Amphetamine tablets is around Rs 1 crore.
During preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that the seized drug was smuggled from Myanmar through the Mizoram sector of Indo-Myanmar border. Further investigation of the case is going on, informed Deputy Commissioner (Preventive) I.R. Kharkongor.
