Irom Sharmila to give up

Imphal: Irom Sharmila, who has been on fast since November 2, 2000, demanding repeal of Armed Forces Specials Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 has announced to end her fast on August 9 next and contest elections.
Sharmila was produced at the court at Imphal and meeting media persons outside the court, she said she has decided to fight to get her demands by fighting elections and charged that in spite of the long stir, the government has failed to meet her demands. (UNI)
